What we do

What we do

Innovating to Save You Time and Money

As an owner, we were unwilling to live with the high costs major component replacement and repairs. To address this problem, E.ON decided to implement unconventional and innovative solutions. E.ON investigated alternatives for more than a year before settling on a new solution to help reduce our downtime and costs from major component failures. In 2014, E.ON Energy Services purchased a self-hoisting crane and is the first company in the U.S. to make it available to external customers. To date, we have done more than 60 gearbox replacements with our self-hoisting crane.

The crane can work anywhere there is a usable road, requires no crane pad, comes in a single container and has a higher cut out speed than a traditional crane. To get the most out of this equipment, E.ON Energy Services established a Major Correctives Team with decades of experience performing major component exchanges. Our team is the best in the business at major repairs and replacements for gearboxes, generators, bearings, and rotors.

Our Major Correctives Team provides labor for both kinds of major repairs, while our Specialized Lifting Team works with them to perform major component change–outs using our self-hoisting crane. This highly specialized unit has deep experience working on many GE, Siemens, Gamesa and Vestas turbine models, giving it the expertise to address issues proficiently and efficiently. Our team approach greatly simplifies the process for our customers.  One phone call can have our teams onsite to replace your gearbox using our self-hoisting crane, labor and parts (if desired). Additional turbine expansion efforts are in the works. The sum of these efforts will save you time, money and reduce the negative impacts on your sites.

Turn Our Experience to Your Advantage

As a major owner that works with manufacturers, independent providers and through our internal program, E.ON has now developed an approach that takes the best practices from around the globe to provide a unique service offering to you. Let us turn our experience into your advantage. Our program has allowed us to improve operating conditions, lower costs and ensure greater reliability.

Through the use of CMS and active management we learned that some very simple maintenance techniques could dramatically lower operating temperatures in certain turbines protecting your equipment.

We’ve seen a number of parts dealers sell us expensive replacements when a lot of equipment can get retrofitted much more cost effectively.

When certain pitch battery assemblies required us to throw out a number of good batteries, E.ON worked with a parts vendor to design a fix.  E.ON has several patents pending for its hard reset device to help you reset certain faults remotely. In addition, EES can develop a program to update and upgrade your on-site turbine computers for both Siemens and GE machines.

We implemented a pro-active solution to address the risk of turbine fire that is less than our basic insurance deductible.
