Its mission is to make energy storage a fundamental part of a cleaner, more intelligent and distributed energy infrastructure. Now in its fifth generation, Greensmith's GEMS software platform optimizes the performance of energy storage by lowering costs and maximizing the system's return on investment through life.

Bidgely offers energy companies cloud-based, real-time applications that their residential customers can access, via the internet or mobile devices. The applications enable customers to better manage their energy usage and compare it with that of similar households in their area. One of its features is energy-saving tips for home electronics, appliances and heating units, which are sent as push notification messages to customers’ mobile devices.

Orcan Energy GmbH is a spin-off from Technische Universität München, Germany, and was founded in 2008. Orcan is the global technology leader in small scale modular Organic Rankine Cycle modules (ORCs). Their 20kW ePack technology can use waste heat to generate electricity. Therefore, they considerably increase the efficiency of many industrial sites and distributed electricity generation plants. The modularity of their product combined with their fundamentally different cost structure allows Orcan to disrupt the waste heat recovery market within the next years. Other investors include Kleiner Perkins and Wellington Partners.
Westly’s Capital Partners Fund II focuses on the world’s top clean tech companies. Westly helps entrepreneurs build companies like Tesla Motors. Four of their portfolio companies have gone public on NASDAQ in the last six years. They evaluate roughly 800 companies a year in over 20 different sectors of clean tech. These include renewable energy and smart grid, building energy efficiency, and transportation and biofuels.

Kite Power Systems develops an airborne wind energy system using kites. Its technology has the potential to transform the global offshore wind generation market as it is cheaper to manufacture and easier to deploy and maintain than conventional wind turbines. Furthermore, the Kite Power System can produce renewable energy at locations where it is, for economic and technical reasons, not possible today. Examples comprise deep water offshore and power generation in remote locations.

The company enables customers to compare a variety of heating system manufacturers and technologies in a quick, easy and cost-effective way, based on an innovative online platform and an in-house developed IT infrastructure. As a result of this, they can then choose and purchase the system that best fits their needs. The selected unit is installed by certified technicians from Thermondo. The company combines the speed and wide product range of an internet company with the outstanding workmanship of experienced HVAC technicians.
Internet of Things (IoT) Infrastructure/Machine-to-Machine Platform
E.ON will use this company’s hardware, software and services. This smart home infrastructure gives us a wide range of energy management applications for solar power, home automation and connected lighting. The platform’s advanced energy management capabilities, which include fault recognition and self-healing, will help customers reduce their energy costs.
Sight Machine is a software startup based in San Francisco (US) that has created an Internet of Things enabled digital manufacturing platform, which uses artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced analytics to help address critical challenges in quality, productivity and visualisation.
