Many industrial processes require heat for different applications. However, not the entire generated heat is actually used. The unused heat, which is a by-product of such processes, is called waste heat. For example, in Germany the share of waste heat of the energy consumption in the industry is around 40%. Valuable energy is lost. Thus, there is an enormous potential to increase energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions.

A commercially attractive way to use waste heat is the installation of an ORC system for power generation. The underlying principle is easy: Unused heat is transferred via heat exchanger to the ORC modules. Based on the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC process) the heat from the process is converted to CO2 neutral and cheap power. The power generated with ORC can be used for onsite consumption. Thereby, you will not only reduce your electricity costs but also improve the energy efficiency and carbon footprint of your company significantly.
ORC is not limited to heat recovery – it can also be used for cooling processes: In many cases hot liquids, exhaust gas or excess steam need to be cooled down with high energy consumption. With an ORC system you can reduce temperatures in processes and cool automatically. This makes conventional energy-intensive cooling systems obsolete. Thereby you have two advantages: You will not only decrease your energy consumption and cooling costs significantly but also produce cheap and clean power.
