The Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) is a proven circular process to generate electricity from heat. The system works as follows:
The evaporator transfers the heat into the ORC module. In this process, an organic working fluid is heated up under high pressure and the created steam flows into the expander. The steam causes the expander (or turbine) to spin, turning a generator to produce electricity.
In the condenser, the steam transforms into liquid state again. The heat created in this process step of the Organic Rankine Cycle will be released into the ambient air. The pump brings the working fluid back to high pressure, ready for re-use. The cycle is thus completed and ready to start over again.
The electrical efficiency and thereby the electrical output of the system is dependent on the heat temperature. The higher the temperature the higher the electrical efficiency of the overall system. With Next-Generation ORC technology, you can achieve commercially attractive results even at low temperature levels.
