Dr Hans Bünting, Chief Operating Officer Renewables of innogy SE, is resigning from his position and will cease to be a member of the Executive Board of the energy Group at the end of today. This was announced during innogy's Supervisory Board meeting today and within the context of the changeover of the majority shareholder of innogy from RWE to E.ON. The decision was taken by mutual agreement.
Johannes Teyssen, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of innogy SE: "As Chief Operating Officer, Hans Bünting played a large part in the success story of renewable energy in Germany and Europe. Under his leadership, the renewables business at the RWE Group expanded successfully and at innogy it advanced to its current strong position. As the future owner of innogy's renewables business, RWE will benefit from this. On behalf of the entire Supervisory Board I would like to thank Hans for the spirit of trust in which we have always collaborated and for his successful work for the company".
Hans Bünting, Chief Renewables Officer of innogy SE: "I look back with pride on the more than eleven years during which we very successfully established the renewables business at RWE and innogy. I would like to thank the entire workforce, without whose passion and great dedication to renewables we would not be here today. innogy is currently one of the world's leading renewables companies, with representation in 15 countries, a net installed capacity of 3.6 gigawatts, a further approximately 1.4 gigawatts under construction and a project pipeline of 6.9 gigawatts. The foundation has thus been laid for further growth in this business area".
After completing his PhD in economics, Hans Bünting joined the RWE Group in 1995 and held management positions in the controlling, accounting and risk management departments at various RWE Group companies. In 2008, Bünting began to set up the renewables business, initially as CFO and then from 2012 as CEO of RWE Innogy GmbH. He has been Chief Operating Officer Renewables at innogy SE since April 2016.
