But two thirds of the population also see improvements in terms of convenience and energy savings
For one third of the population in eight European countries, technology in the home makes life more stressful and complicated. This is the result of a representative study conducted by E.ON.
The Europeans most critical of technology in the home are the Hungarians and the British. Almost half of the respondents (46 percent in each country) said it made their life more complicated. More than half of the Hungarians (52 percent) felt that they had more stress in their lives than ten years ago. Life has also become more stressful for 51 percent of the Czechs.
However, the growing use of technology in homes also has a positive side. Overall, about two thirds of those surveyed said that technology provided greater convenience and helped people be more energy-efficient. The biggest advocates are the Italians, 87 percent of whom thought that technology was making their life easier. People in Turkey (84 percent) and Romania (81 percent) took a similarly positive view.
In Germany, 72 percent of the respondents felt that the use of technology in the home was making live easier. Around a third also believes that it increases stress. Only 64 percent of the Germans take the view that technology helps to save energy. That puts Germany in second-last place followed only by Sweden where 46 percent believe that technology has helped save energy in the last ten years.
