Swift completion of legislative process and direct agreement required
E.ON welcomes today’s decision of the federal cabinet to implement the proposals put forward by the commission for the review of the financing of the nuclear phase-out (KFK). The company sees the possibility of finding a social consensus that will put an end to a highly controversial discussion which has been ongoing for decades. E.ON is prepared to make a significant contribution to make this consensus happen. The implementation will coincide with a release from liability for interim and final storage of nuclear waste.
In the interest of lasting legal certainty for all sides involved, E.ON deems it necessary to not only have a rapid legislative process but to also swiftly achieve a direct agreement between the federal government and the operators. The company will thoroughly examine the bill and continue to work constructively with the relevant public authorities to find a joint and final solution. This press release may contain forward-looking statements based on current assumptions and forecasts made by E.ON Group Management and other information currently available to E.ON.
