Work-life balance - Do something for your life

A healthy balance between private and work life is more than important for us, as studies prove that a good work-life balance has a positive effect on the motivation, company culture and the economic success of a company.

For this reason, E.ON comprehensively supports its employees to combine professional requirements with private ones. The most important prerequisite: you have the possibility for flexible working hours.

Living individually, working flexibly - also for highly qualified employees

In order to provide our employees with a balanced relationship between work and leisure time, E.ON offers numerous flexible working time models: part-time, home office arrangements, trust-based working hours or the possibility to take sabbaticals. Highly qualified employees can also make optimal contributions when they can work with individual requirements.

But different life situations require different measures. That is why we have firmly established numerous programs to improve work-life balance at E.ON. We can support you in the search for childcare facilities or for the care of dependents.

Family or career? You don’t have to choose!

The compatibility of work and family requires more than family-friendly working time arrangements. We have therefore developed various instruments to specifically support our employees.

An example of this is parental leave: to keep new mothers and fathers as close to the business as possible, E.ON offers them preferred leave or sick leave replacements. Before their return, they have an individual planning discussion with their line manager.

E.ON also has a long-term and sustainable commitment to child care. We provide support facilities in co-operation with daycare and nursery facilities and cooperate with external service providers to provide ad hoc support.

Whether with or without children, family friendliness is becoming more and more important for employers. For the vast majority of employees this is at least as important as salary. Even for students, a good work-life balance is one of the most important decision-making criteria for choice of employer. For this reason, we see the compatibility of work and private life as both an entrepreneurial and a social responsibility.

You are not alone

In Germany alone, around ten percent of employees between 25 and 49 are looking after dependents who are in need of care. We support our caregiver employees in the context of a new company agreement as well as with advisory services, information, experience circles and sponsoring programs for their often burdensome tasks. In addition, we are committed to help employees find appropriate care services.

Through all of these programs and measures, we attach great importance to regular discussions with experts and use "best practice" examples across the group. We want to continue our successful path in the future. The goal is to strengthen the self-organization of the employees and to develop towards a culture of getting work done in the most effective way, rather than having our employees abide by strict working hours.

Success Factor Family - We walk the walk

With the signing of the "Joint Success Factor Family", we have reaffirmed our commitment to a family-friendly corporate management. We are therefore committed:

  • To raise awareness among our leaders of the importance of family-friendly attitudes. This affects their own quality of life and their long-term retention and sensitizes them to dealing with employees and colleagues on this issue,
  • To train them in the context of seminars on topics such as time management and life balance,
  • Programs on how to promote work-life balance with a family,
  • And to promote a family-friendly personnel policy in our environment.
