"To me, inhouse consulting at E.ON means playing an active role in shaping the new energy world."
Luisa, Senior Project Consultant
As a CEMS Alumni Luisa had the chance to combine her passion for the energy sector and consultancy at E.ON Inhouse Consulting.
What did you do before joining ECON?
Before joining ECON I led a bit of a nomad life – I am originally from Mallorca, but have I lived most of my life abroad. I studied engineering at Imperial College London and then carried on my studies (Masters in International Management/CEMS) at the London School of Economics and University of St. Gallen. During my university breaks, I did several internships where I discovered my passion for the energy world.
What is your work as a consultant about?
Since joining E.ON soon after finishing my studies in 2014, I have had the chance to work in different countries on diverse topics such as customer experience, business development and sustainability. My tasks and responsibilities range from project and stakeholder management to the development and implementation of new business models. In addition, I also help our recruiting team in attracting new talents by representing E.ON Inhouse Consulting at different university events.
Why did you decide to join as an inhouse consultant at E.ON?
I am able to develop the skills that you would learn in an external consulting firm whilst also deepening my knowledge of an industry I am passionate about. In addition to this, I am also able to better understand the ins and outs of the organization and build a long lasting relationship and network across the whole E.ON Group. This final point helps me to develop proposals which are applicable and have a high positive impact.
What do you like most about ECON?
There are two points here. First, I really like the feedback and non-hierarchical, friendly, and open culture which is part of the E.ON Inhouse Consulting DNA. Second, I am able to see how projects get implemented within E.ON, the impact they have, and how they evolve over time. This is something which is truly rewarding and which you can learn a lot from.
Which challenges are most exciting for you in your role as a consultant?
E.ON is undergoing a huge transformation and we as inhouse consultants need to act as change agents. This can be challenging: we need to drive and implement change in a structured way from a Group perspective and at the same time we need to be sensitive and consider our clients’ needs and our colleagues’ concerns. Finding this balance between the project and E.ON Group optimum can sometimes be tricky.
What do you do in your free time?
Having friends and family spread across the globe, I travel a fair amount. I combine my trips with my love for food, where I taste new dishes and cuisines. When it is not cold and rainy, I enjoy spending my time outdoors doing sports or simply going for a long walk with friends.
