Energy for children
We are convinced that our actions will in part be measured by the world we leave to future generations. As Europe’s leading energy company, we have been applying our know-how as an energy expert in order to prepare young people, helping them become the well-educated adults of tomorrow who will use energy responsibly and take care of the environment. In cooperation with schools and kindergartens, we support numerous campaigns and projects to inspire interest in these issues among children and young people.
Energy for Children
The groupwide Energy for Children program forms the focal point of our educational activities. In November 2007, we decided to promote awareness of energy and environmental issues among young people with the program Energy for Children in every country where we operate. This approach corresponds to the mission statement of the United Nations: creating educational opportunities for people in order to allow them to acquire the knowledge and develop the behaviors required for a sustainable future.
EUR50 million for Innovative Energy and Environmental Education
With Energy for Children, we have created the first groupwide corporate responsibility project for all E.ON AG market units. Under the Energy for Children umbrella, all market units will actively promote projects for kindergartens, preschools and elementary schools over the next few years. The objective is to develop a far-reaching national project in each country in order to take a leading role in energy and environmental education. The program is supplemented by a limited number of extended local partnerships with educational institutions and voluntary employee support. E.ON will spend a total of EUR50 million on Energy for Children by 2011.
With the Energy Experience program launched in 2006, E.ON UK is currently the role model for the group. Other market units are in the process of creating corresponding implementation frameworks. Combining all educational projects under one roof will allow the various initiatives to learn from each other and to benefit from the groupwide exchange of knowledge.

Early Childhood Education in Germany
In Germany, the lead program is focusing on early childhood education for children between the ages of three and six. In conjunction with leading partners from the environmental education field, we are currently developing an education project that will represent a milestone for the overall initiative and will be introduced to the public shortly.
