Corporate Giving
Financial Contributions are essential to the very existence of many people and organizations. As a good corporate citizen, E.ON plays its part in the form of Corporate Giving. In 2007, the group gave approximately EUR15 million to projects around the world. About 40 percent of all financial contribution in 2007 went to education and science. Another 30 percent were given to sports and another EUR1.5 million to culture, small environment projects and to political parties and related associations.
This figure only covers a small part of our financial contributions. It does not include the variety of community involvement projects that E.ON also supports working in partnership with governments and NGOs to improve local communities.

Even Pennies can Make a Big Difference
Small amounts can often add up to major donations. As part of the Donate your Pennies initiative, employees at E.ON Energie, E.ON Ruhrgas and E.ON AG are voluntarily donating the penny amounts from their monthly salaries. Matched funding doubles every donation. The program generated EUR395,000 in 2007 at E.ON Energie and E.ON Ruhrgas in Germany alone.
The penny donation program at E.ON Energie has traditionally benefited needy children. For example, EUR50,000 was donated to Power-Child e.V. in December 2007. Veronica Ferres, the patron of the association, accepted the check. Power-Child fights sexual violence against children and youths, and promotes public awareness of this important issue.
At the beginning of 2007, EUR100,000 was donated to "HOMe – Hospiz ohne Mauern" (Hospice Without Walls). The hospice is part of the clinical center at the University of Munich. A large team of professionals helps families of seriously and terminally ill children with homecare. EUR30,000 of the donated amount was generated by the penny donation program. In this case, the E.ON Board of Management decided to top up the donation to the full EUR100,000 instead of doubling it under the matched funding program.
In 2007, E.ON Energie also gave EUR30,000 from the penny donation program to the "Tour of Hope". The "Tour of Hope" is a bicycle race over a distance of nearly 300 km to raise funds for children with cancer. Tour participants have been biking for this good cause once a year since 1984. Over EUR17 million has already been collected. The tour stopped over in Düsseldorf on August 16. E.ON AG invited the athletes, sponsors and organizers to Corporate Center as part of the event.

Help for Flood Victims
Natural disasters are a tragedy for victims who are often left with nothing from one day to the next. These situations require timely aid without red tape. In August 2007, eight people lost their lives to floods in Tsar Kaloian, northeastern Bulgaria. E.ON Bulgaria responded quickly, supplying people in the disaster area with power and 18,000 liters of drinking water – at no charge of course. E.ON Energie had already donated EUR500,000 to Bulgarian and Romanian flood victims, respectively, in 2005 and 2006.
Solidarity in the USA
E.ON U.S. also involves its customers in donation programs. Customers regularly contribute to the Winterhelp Program by rounding up their invoice amounts. E.ON U.S. matches or exceeds customer donations. In 2005, E.ON U.S. contributed two dollars for every dollar donated by its customers. The Winterhelp Program helps needy customers pay their heating bills during difficult times. Over 23,000 families have already benefited from the program.
Financial Contributions to Political Parties and Related Associations
In 2007, E.ON market units gave EUR180,000 to politics-related associations. Financial contributions to political parties stem from our notion of being a corporate citizen. In 2007 no financial contributions were made to parties in the U.S.A.
