A Sustainable Supply of Energy

Securing the supply of energy is one of the main challenges of the twenty-first century. This is especially true in Europe, which over the long term will have to rely on energy imports. Security of supply is indispensable for high standards of living and economic development and plays a key role in E.ON’s strategy. We believe that large energy companies are best equipped to meet the tasks of ensuring security of supply.

E.ON pursues a number of strategies to secure our customers’ supply of energy. We have a diverse energy mix consisting of coal, natural gas, nuclear and renewables, enabling us to avoid dependence on a single energy source. At the same time, we’re investing billions in building and updating generating units and energy networks. We’re also deepening our partnerships with producer countries and companies to tap new supply sources and transport pathways. An example of this is our entry into the liquefied natural gas business. We also spur the development of new technologies.

Supply reliability, meaning avoiding and combating interruptions in electricity and gas supply, is also a key focus of our efforts. Our objective is to ensure that our power and gas networks operate without interruption.
