OAO Gazprom, BASF AG and E.ON AG sign a basic agreement regarding the construction of the North European gas pipeline through the Baltic Sea.

 

E.ON closes the sale, agreed to in June, of Ruhrgas Industries to the European associated company CVC Capital Partners.

 

E.ON completes its acquisition of the Dutch power and gas company NRE, thus gaining access to Dutch end consumers for the first time. NRE Energie has approximately 275,000 customers, and is the fifth-largest energy supplier in the Netherlands.

 

As of September 16, Swedish company Sydkraft becomes E.ON Sverige.

 

E.ON acquires British company Caledonia Oil and Gas Limited. The gas production company has holdings in a total of fifteen gas fields in the southern region of the British North Sea.

 

E.ON announces its new role as National Olympic Committee partner and official sponsor of the German Olympic team. E.ON’s partnership contract, which runs until the 2008 Summer Olympics, will help support German top amateur athletics as well as up-and-coming young athletes.
