Engaging in Dialog
with our Stakeholders
At E.ON we are sure that proactively engaging with our stakeholders is key to establishing productive dialog with them. However, we don't take a "blanket approach" and try to engage all stakeholder groups on all topics, but rather seek a more closely targeted approach. To reflect the importance of dialog in our communication strategy, our 2008 Corporate Responsibility reporting has a section specially dedicated to our stakeholder dialog. This section is intended as an presentation of past and current topics and issues faced by our Group.
Stakeholder Dialog is Embedded in our CR Strategy
Stakeholder dialog is a fundamental part of E.ON's Corporate Responsibility (CR) Strategy.
Stakeholder orientation is the basis for effective implementation of CR and a long term business prosperity. An open approach towards stakeholder expectations and concerns, supported by transparency on our corporate performance, are essential ingredients for successful stakeholder relations and management.

Responding to Criticism through Open Dialog Channels
In 2008 public criticism of E.ON's activities in several market units and regions intensified. We responded by seeking direct contact with relevant stakeholder groups in open dialog.
2008 also saw our Investor Relations Roadshow reemphasize the breadth of our dialog engagement. Corporate Responsibility was a driving force here too, in our meetings with Socially Responsible Investments (SRI) analysts and pension fund managers. Key areas in discussion were E.ON's approach to Corporate Governance, CO2 target-setting, Carbon Capture and Storage (CSS), our generation strategy, human rights, community involvement, supply chain risk management and our transparency on reporting.
Over the course of the year we have established open dialog with a wide range of stakeholders, many of whom were critical of E.ON to begin with. We would naturally be delighted to hear your own opinions about this report, our activities and the future of the energy sector - so please do get in touch!
