Powerful Equipment up Close
Thanks to innovative technology, the ultra-high-temperature power plant will be a major milestone on the road to great energy efficiency in coal-fired generation. The plant is designed to reduce energy loss at every stage of the generation process to the minimum. This process begins with the combustion of pulverized coal into the lower part of the steam generator, the furnace chamber. The pulverized coal is then blown into the boiler chamber with preheated air. The resulting heat transforms water into steam which is piped to a superheater which heats the steam to more than 700 degrees Centigrade (1,300 degrees Fahrenheit). The steam then flows over the blades of a turbine, causing it to spin.
