Fossil fuels remain up to Date

It is not possible to shape the future of power generation without fossil fuels like coal and gas. This is why it is even more important to treat the planet's existing resources with care and the greatest possible efficiency. Fossil fuels contain the solar energy absorbed and stored by flora and fauna transformed into hydrocarbons over millions of years.  Increasing the efficiency of our lignite and coal fired power plants in combination with the fulfillment of stringent environmental standards are the key issues in our objectives in the field of the future exploitation of fossil fuels for power generation. For instance, our planning foresees the completion of the world's first coal-fired power plant with a thermal efficiency of over 50% by the year 2014. At the same time, we will continue our efforts in the development of low CO2 emission coal-fired power plants.
