In the Field of Renewable Energies,
we have already Arrived in the Future
Renewable energies make an essential contribution to future power supply - for increased climate protection, greater supply security and the protection of our planet's limited resources.
For this reason, we are constantly seeking suitable locations around the globe where we can exploit inexhaustible resources such as wind, water, biomass and solar efficiently and without damage to the environment. Considerable investments in research and development, along with pioneering international projects, address these demands and the fulfillment of our responsibilities to humanity and the environment.
In water-rich Sweden, for example, we already generate a significant percentage of our energy by water power. We operate large-scale offshore wind parks off the coasts of England and Germany. In addition, in Germany, we strongly promote both production and research and development in the field of biomass exploitation. The success of these projects validates our concepts. Today, 13 percent of our total power generated already originates from renewable energy sources. Increasing this proportion is our declared objective for the future.
In only the second year since its foundation, E.ON Climate & Renewables has already been named the "Best European Project Developer 2009." The award was presented by the Environmental Finance Magazine, an international trade magazine that specializes in environmental issues and reaches more than 30,000 politicians and experts every month. Projects such as the London Array, the world's biggest offshore wind farm planned for the estuary of the River Thames, alpha ventus, Germany's first offshore wind farm, and Rödsand in Denmark certainly played a part in the decision, as did our on-shore activities in Spain.
