More than just Soccer: E.ON Nordic, Sponsor of the Gothia Cup
The Gothia Cup in Göteborg, Sweden is one of the most popular and successful youth soccer tournaments in the world. In 2007, more than 33,000 children and youths from 59 countries participated in the 33rd Gothia Cup. E.ON Nordic is a tournament sponsor and supports the idea that children can establish international friendships through team sports – regardless of religious or cultural differences. The Gothia Cup also has a significant impact on the regional economy: Every year, hundreds of thousands of tourists flock to Göteborg for this event.
E.ON UK: Triple 1st Place Rankings for Sponsoring
At the renowned 2008 Hollis Sponsorship Awards, E.ON UK earned no less than three top placements. E.ON UK received two of the awards for its dedication to the FA Cup and the "Carbon Footyprint" promotion ("Best Sponsoring" and "Best Brand Sponsoring"). The third first-place finish for E.ON UK was awarded for the "Save your energy for The Blues" campaign in the category "Best Sponsoring on the Social Level". The objective of this campaign was to make the environmental impact of a soccer association – Ipswich Town, also known as The Blues – CO2 neutral.
