On July 1, the subsidiary Ruhrgas belonging to E.ON since January 2003 presents itself with the new name E.ON Ruhrgas.
On July 5, the British Market Unit follows - its lead company Powergen is now trading under the firm E.ON UK.
Also in early July 2004, E.ON and OAO Gazprom sign a Memorandum of Understanding in which they agree to further deepen their successful business relationship in the field of strategic projects. The companies intend to pursue joint projects in gas production in Russia, gas transport to Europe, power generation in Russia, and the expansion of infrastructure to market natural gas and power in Europe.
