Power

E.ON has about 74 GW of installed generating capacity, making us one of the world’s leading power producers. We have a broad and balanced energy mix. In Germany, our biggest sources of generation are nuclear and coal; in the United Kingdom, coal and natural gas. Renewables like wind, hydro, biomass, and solar power are playing an increasingly important role in power production worldwide. We’ve committed ourselves to expanding our renewables capacity. In Scandinavia, hydro is our largest source of generation, followed by nuclear power. And we’ll soon be the United Kingdom’s leading wind-farm operator. In 2008, we created a new market unit - Climate & Renewables - to manage our renewables and carbon-sourcing businesses.

The organization of power transmission and distribution varies significantly by country. E.ON Netz operates a high-voltage transmission system in Germany (its ultrahigh-voltage transmission system is to be sold). Our regional utilities in Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy, and the Midwestern United States operate distribution systems that deliver electricity safely and reliably to homes and businesses.

Our national and regional marketing subsidiaries offer a wide range of electricity products and personalized service to industrial, commercial, residential, and municipal customers.
