Under One Roof: Energy and Environmental Education for Children
Our commitment to responsible energy management begins in our core business area, for example with sustainable energy generation. At the same time, our educational initiatives form an integral part of our comprehensively defined understanding of responsibility and are an element of our Corporate Responsibility (CR) Strategy. This means that in addition to ensuring climate-friendly, efficient generation, we help our customers and the community to manage energy responsibly.
Learning Energy Responsibility Early
Through our innovative projects, we are working to promote the careful handling of energy and the environment, starting with children - and in doing so, to make an active contribution to protecting the environment and our natural resources. This reflects the mission statement of the United Nations for creating a sustainable future.
Launched in 2007, "Energy for Children" is our first program to bring together all units of E.ON AG in a global initiative for corporate Community Involvement (CI) at a regional level. In 13 of the countries in which E.ON operates, we are currently conducting energy and environmental education projects aimed at children between the ages of three and 18.

"'Energy for Children' is an ideal way to connect the dots between climate protection awareness and responsible behavior. The project teaches the younger generation to handle natural resources responsibly, making a valuable contribution to sustainability education."

National Flagship Projects Show the Way
Each country can develop a national flagship project under the umbrella of Energy for Children. Germany has launched "Leuchtpol", a project with an innovative approach that exemplifies the high quality of the entire program. In each project, Energy for Children is adapted to country-specific requirements. Not all countries have nationwide Internet connectivity, so E.ON România, for example, makes teaching materials available in print. These country-specific projects are enhanced by the voluntary involvement of our employees and project partnerships.
