Our Occupational Health and Safety Strategy |
As one of the world's largest investor-owned power and gas companies, E.ON is working to assume a pioneering role in the areas of health and safety. Our goal is to establish an active, Group-wide health and safety culture. For E.ON, it is imperative that accidents, injuries and work-related illnesses should be avoided. Nothing we do is so important or urgent that our people should ever work under unsafe conditions.
Our Health&Safety (H&S) Strategy has been refined and brought in line with the new E.ON strategy of November 2010. We report in detail on our progress in our 2010 Performance Report.
Our Goal: Continuous Reduction of Injury Rates
A key indicator of our occupational safety performance is the "Total Recordable Injury Frequency Index" (TRIF), which measures the total number of all reported injuries in the Group. Our goal is to reduce this figure to 3.0 across the Group by 2015.

"Our HSE Strategy sends a clear signal that we take occupational health, safety and evironment very seriously. Each individual is asked to place high priority on their own safety and that of their colleagues. We are also convinced that our employees can only deliver outstanding quality when we apply the strictest occupational safety standards."

- E.ON HSE Governance Council: The E.ON HSE Governance Council acts as a driver of Group-wide HSE culture and works to continuously improve HSE. It is headed by Klaus-Dieter Maubach, Member of the Management Board of E.ON AG. Other Council members include selected directors of global and regional units. Each global and regional unit is required to set up an HSE Governance Council.
- Group Management HSE Office: The Group Management HSE Office supports and advises the Board of Management and other committees and units. - HSE Governance Councils in global and regional units: Each unit has its own HSE Governance Council that acts on behalf of its board. In addition to driving HSE activities, it is involved in drafting Safety Improvement Plans, which have been developed annually since 2010.
- E.ON HSE Manager Group: Coordinated by the head of the Group Management HSE Office, the E.ON HSE Manager Group consists of the HSE managers from the individual units. Working groups address specific occupational safety issues. For example, the "Operational HSE Working Group" developed new HSE standards in support of the Group health and safety guidelines.
