E.ON among the top 4 for sustainability performance

Company moves up 16 places in the new ‘Sustainalytics’ table

E.ON has jumped up to fourth place in the comparative sustainability analysis of Germany's 30 largest listed companies. Scoring 77.7 out of a maximum of 100 points, E.ON is the best placed energy company and follows the three leading companies from the automotive and consumer goods industries. The company has moved up 16 places from the last analysis completed in 2009.

E.ON board member Klaus-Dieter Maubach: "This excellent score shows that E.ON is making progress in embedding sustainability criteria into its operational processes. Over the coming years we will continue to strengthen our company’s sustainability and improve our environmental and social performance – in keeping with our aim to be a ‘cleaner & better’. We are doing this of our own accord but we are also very much aware of our customers’ and investors’ high expectations. They rightly expect large companies such as E.ON to make a verifiable contribution to sustainable development, every year.”

Every two years the investment services provider, Sustainalytics, which specialises in analysing and assessing the sustainability performance of companies and countries, conducts a comparative analysis of the sustainability performance of Germany's 30 largest listed companies. The analysis is based on the so-called ‘ESG approach’, which focuses on Environmental, Social and Governance processes. Using some 100 indicators for each company, it records parameters such as supply chain standards, social commitment as well as the inclusion of ecological factors in the development of products and services.

E.ON is constantly honing its tools to improve sustainability. For several years E.ON has achieved good scores in various CR ratings and rankings. This year, E.ON has again qualified for the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), the leading index of sustainable companies.
