E.ON receives award for equal opportunities
E.ON AG today received an award for its commitment to equal opportunities in its human resources policy. The award was conferred by Total E-Quality Deutschland e.V., a non-profit association set up on the initiative of major German companies and sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Technology and the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens and Youth.
The association pursues the aim of establishing and ensuring sustainable equal opportunities for women in their occupations, especially in management positions.
E.ON Chief Human Resources Officer Regine Stachelhaus: "As Germany’s largest energy company, E.ON lives up to its responsibility for recruiting more women managers. Today’s award reaffirms our action. We will systematically increase the share of women in E.ON’s management. We will also seek to ensure that more women take up technical occupations."
On the occasion of the award Ulrich Spie, E.ON Diversity Officer, said: "To E.ON, diversity management is more than mere figures or quotas; rather it means the company’s qualitative development. This award confirms our strategy of introducing and maintaining equal opportunities."
The jury stated in its decision: "Diversity is an integral part of E.ON’s corporate culture. Since 1999 the company has been implementing measures to achieve a better work-life balance. With its active involvement in nationwide initiatives, E.ON seeks to increase the proportion of women in technical occupations. E.ON AG has signed the Diversity Charter and is listed on the Gender DAX. Increasing the share of women at management level is another of its goals."
