Günther Westner studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Munich. He went to E.ON Energie as he wanted to base his thesis on practical experience as much as possible, writing about the liberalization of the natural gas market in the Czech Republic.

Günther Westner has worked for E.ON Group since May 2005 when he started as an apprentice. After posts in Landshut, Budweis and Essen during his apprenticeship, he began working for E.ON Energie in Munich in the Energy Business division. Today he works in Strategy & Portfolio Management at E.ON AG in Düsseldorf where he deals with long term generation planning and future investments in the field of power generation.
