FAQ

What changes in my social insurance situation if I receive E.SIS support?

As the allowed income threshold is exceeded by the E.SIS support, the free family insurance for people with state medical insurance is no longer applicable. As a member of the so-called “medical insurance for students”, you are obligated to have medical and long-term care insurance. National monthly contributions for people without children is currently 57.32 €/58.49 €  (Winter semester 2007/2008). For students previously privately insured, nothing changes.

Please discuss this with your insurance provider to make sure you receive the best insurance protection possible.
Do I have to pay tax on my support?

Please check your individual case with your local tax office. We have checked the simplest case for you (Tax bracket I; single, no children):
  • E.SIS Platinum (Support amount: 1,100 Euro/Month): a monthly income tax of 29.83 Euro is applicable, in some cases a solidarity tax of 1.64 Euros is to be paid, meaning a total payable amount of 31.47 Euros.
  • E.SIS Gold (Support amount: 600 Euro/Month): no income tax applicable.
  • Both programs are subject to church tax – 8 or 9 percent of the income tax.
Do my parents still receive family allowance, if I receive E.ON support?

Please check with your local family allowance office. Further information can be found on the job office website.
