Thumbs up for TecTV -

Fascinating technology on WebTV

The starting shot has sounded: Germany’s first tech WebTV station was established at the second annual meeting of the initiative SACHEN MACHEN. The WebTV station "TecTV" was launched especially for the next generation of technical experts and is now available at www.tectv.de. It is designed to communicate tricky technical issues in an entertaining but still informative way:  How do wind turbines generate electricity? What is an environmentally-friendly coal-fired power plant going to be like in the future? How can bio fuels offer an environmentally sound solution in the future of energy? "We will be approaching schools with these and similar topics to compensate for the fact that they typically don’t offer any technical lessons," explains E.ON AG HR Officer Christoph Dänzer-Vanotti.

By launching TecTV the SACHEN MACHEN initiative is setting new technical standards and raising the bar in media use. The WebTV station is another important step in getting youngsters interested in technology and is also picking up on a trend common among this age group – nearly half of all 14 to 19 year-olds are already watching Web-TV at least once a week.

A programming committee made up of reputable TV and science experts has been set up to ensure that the content broadcast on TecTV is unbiased. E.ON is one of nine SACHEN MACHEN partners supporting the launch of TecTV.
