Initiatives and Projects
We have launched a variety of initiatives throughout the group in order to solidify the concept of "diversity" and to sensitize our employees regarding tolerance in their interactions with colleagues.
E.ON U.S.: Corporate Diversity Council
In the USA, the heterogeneous population structure means that diversity is a particular focus traditionally. At E.ON U.S. a single body is responsible for diversity management – the Corporate Diversity Council. The body has implemented six initiatives since 2002. On top of that, the "Office of Employee Diversity Affairs" has launched a groupwide training program. Its aim is to raise employees’ awareness of diversity and underline that related issues go deeper than gender or background differences.
"eDiversity" – Online Training against Discrimination
E.ON takes legal regulations for the prevention of discrimination seriously. In 2007, we launched the "eDiversity" online tool. With the help of this program, employees in German market units can familiarize themselves with the fundamentals of the General Equal Treatment Act (in force since 2006). The objective of "eDiversity" training is to sensitize employees to the correct way to handle differences and diversity on a day-to-day basis and to avoid discrimination in the workplace.
Diversity Challenge – E.ON Nordic Enters the Competition
In 2008, E.ON Nordic will enter the annual "Diversity Challenge" – a competition sponsored by the Swedish recruitment company "Academic Search" – for the third time. Students or graduates audit Swedish companies in order to determine areas where the promotion of diversity could be enhanced. In 2007, the issue of "diversity" was addressed at E.ON Nordic with numerous interviews and workshops. The results were communicated to all company employees. An action plan addressing the future of diversity will be published in the spring of 2008.
