Glossary

E.ON's energy and financial terms.
Energy from sources that are essentially inexhaustible. Examples include solar, biomass, hydro, wind, geothermal, wave, and tidal energy.
Twelve regional units manage our national sales operations, regional energy networks, and distributed generation. Additionally, Russia is a special focus country.
A type of stock registered on the name of the owner, who is also recorded in the stock register of the company. The stock register enables the company to gain a better understanding of its shareholders and shareholder structure. The company is in a position to directly address its shareholders (as long as they are entered into the stock register). Companies can address their shareholders more accurately and provide better investor relations activities.
Refers to technology development from research through small-scale and large-scale demonstration projects in which new technologies are tested under real conditions before they enter commercial operation.
Acronym: ROCE. This figure measures the return on capital employed in percent. There are two ways of calculating returns:
 

a) dividend yield = ratio of dividend + tax credit + share price to share purchase price, and

 

b) return on investment (ROI) = ratio of dividend + tax credit + share price fluctuations + subscription rights to share purchase price.

Acronym for return on capital employed. A key indicator for monitoring the performance of E.ON’s market units, ROCE is the ratio between adjusted EBIT and capital employed. Capital employed represents the interest-bearing capital tied up in the E.ON Group.
