Lenbachhaus in Munich
For years, a successful cultural partnership between E.ON Energie and the Städtische Galerie in the Lenbachhaus has meant that the two organizations are much more than just neighbors.
Thus E.ON Energie sponsored a large Kandinsky exhibition at the Munich Lenbachhaus's Kunstbau. The ambitious retrospective, which then also went on display at the Centre Pompidou (Paris) and the Solomon Guggenheim Museum (New York), showed 95 paintings from all the key phases of Wassily Kandinsky's work, as well as an extensive exhibition of his graphic prints. The works were on display from October 25, 2008 to March 8, 2009 in the municipal gallery of the Lenbachhaus, and the show was, with 420,000 visitors, Lenbachhaus's most successful exhibition to date.
Currently the museum is closed until summer 2012 because of extensive construction and renovation work.
