Headquartered in Milan, E.ON Climate & Renewables' Italian business is committed to our aim of taking renewable energy technologies from their present boutique status to a broader, industrial-scale application. With our current portfolio of around 330 MW installed capacity, the output of E.ON Climate & Renewables plants is higher than the average of Italian wind farms.
Solar PV is another focus technology of Italy. By end 2011 we plan to have around 50 MW of PV in operation.
Italy's renewable capacity and rate of renewable energy production is already high in comparison to other European countries, largely due to the extensive use of hydropower. We will look to examine opportunities to become active in other renewable technologies. However, due to limitations on further expansion of hydroelectric and biomass generation, onshore wind and solar projects will be our key focal development areas in the future.
