Our Business: Central Europe |
E.ON Climate & Renewables Central Europe is headquartered in Munich with branch offices in Hamburg, Szczecin, Potsdam and Paris. Our business focuses on the development and operation of on- and offshore wind farms in Germany, France and Poland as well as on solar activities (PV) in France.
Our activities in Germany
In Germany, we built up a portfolio of 30 onshore wind farms with an installed capacity of approximately 300 MW, all located in the Northern part of Germany. We also take an active part in the offshore wind industry, which is an important pillar to reach European's 2020 renewables target by 2020: Together with our partners we have built and put into operation our pioneering project alpha ventus, which is Germany's first offshore wind farm and the first far-shore, deep water wind farm worldwide. Alpha ventus has been in operation since April 2010. Building on the experience of Alpha ventus we are currently constructing E.ON's first German commercial offshore wind project Amrumbank West in the German North Sea. Once operational, Amrumbank will have an installed capacity of 288 MW provided by 80 Siemens 3.6 MW turbines and will generate electricity for about 300,000 German households. Our further German offshore pipeline comprises Delta Nordsee in the North Sea (up to 480 MW) and Arkona Becken Südost (Baltic Sea, up to 480 MW). The projects are being developed by our Hamburg based offshore team.
Our activities in Poland
Due to favourable wind conditions in many parts of the country and the good wind regime, Poland is an attractive market for the wind onshore industry. We've been active in this market for more than six years now and have opened a branch office in Szczecin back in 2006 to have a stronger local presence there. In the meantime we've built and put into operation four wind farms totalling an installed capacity of 86.5 MW, amongst them Wielkopolska (52.2 MW), which is one of the biggest onshore wind farms in Poland. Currently we are developing further our huge project pipeline and have recently received the building licensees to construct two additional onshore wind farms.
Our activities in France
In France, we've built and operate six onshore wind farms with a total capacity of 83.5 MW, all located in the Northern part of France. Amongst them is Kergrist (26 MW), which is the biggest onshore wind farm in the Bretagne region. Further to our onshore wind activities we are scouting opportunities to enter wind offshore business in France. Solar PV is our second technology area in France. In southern France we've built and operate Le Lauzet (2.5 MW), our first PV-plant 150 kilometers north of Marseille. In 2011, we put into operation our second PV-plant Brigadel (8 MW).
