Connecting E.ON to Global Energy Markets
As the link between E.ON and the world's wholesale energy markets, our Trading global unit buys and sells primarily electricity, natural gas, oil, coal, biomass, freight and carbon allowances. Its activities play a vital role in helping to ensure fair prices and secure long-term energy supplies for millions of customers across Europe.
Managing commodity risk, optimizing E.ON's European asset base
The unit's primary responsibilities are to optimize E.ON's asset base, the broadest and most diverse in Europe, and to manage the commodity risks associated with running those assets.
Energy commodities such as electricity, natural gas, coal, and oil are increasingly linked and more and more influenced by global developments. The team of highly experienced traders work side-by-side, combining cross-commodity expertise with expert knowledge of markets throughout Europe and around the world. This centralized approach, which combines an integrated market view with an outstanding power and gas portfolio enables us to maximize value from our assets, better manage commodity risk, and create additional growth.
A single, European portfolio
The Trading unit manages the day-to-day dispatch of E.ON's entire power generation fleet in Northwest Europe. From this transnational perspective, E.ON’s power stations constitute a single, European portfolio. The dispatch team has 24/7 responsibility for ensuring the most efficient use of our European power stations, determining which plant run and for how long.
