United Kingdom
Milestone: E.ON Ruhrgas started first production from the Babbage gas field in the United Kingdom in August 2010. The Babbage platform is the first gas production platform operated by E.ON Ruhrgas UK E&P Limited. Babbage is expected to produce more than 5 billion cubic metres of natural gas with a field life of 20 years. In the UK, eight out of twelve exploration and appraisal wells drilled so far were discoveries. Of these, the most significant is the Huntington discovery in the Central North Sea. Production start-up is scheduled for 2012.

Norway
Promising gas discoveries: In Norway, five out of seven exploration and appraisal wells drilled so far were discoveries. We have participated in drilling several gas discoveries in the Njord Area. In 2007, a well confirmed the NorthWestFlank discovery, in 2008, the Galtvort discovery was made and in 2009 two further discoveries were made.
North Africa
Development activities in North Africa are starting to bear fruit. In Algeria, we were approved as an operator in 2007. In 2008, we opened our office in Algiers and were awarded the Rhourde Yacoub exploration licence in the 2008/2009 licensing round.
Algeria
In early 2009, E.ON Ruhrgas E&P signed the Rhourde Yacoub exploration permit in the 7th Algerian Licence Round. Our partner is Algeria's Sonatrach with a 51 percent interest. The licence is operated by E.ON Ruhrgas E&P. A total of seven exploration wells will be drilled and around 500 km2 of 3 D seismic will be shot. The first well was started in late 2009.
