Different Types

We operate two kinds of nuclear power plant in both Germany and Sweden: pressurized-water reactors and boiling-water reactors.

How it works

In our nuclear power plants, self-sustaining fission reactions are not possible without water as a moderator.

Disposal Issue

The peaceful use of nuclear energy produces low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste, in research and medicine, as well as in the operation of nuclear power plants; the last also produces high-level waste. They have to be permanently disposed of in deep geological formations.
