Smart Technologies of the Future

How important will smart grids be for our business in the future? Will they result in new business models? How can smart grids be combined with IT and communication technologies? Which companies are leading the way in this field and who would be a suitable potential partner? These are just a handful of the many questions the "Smart E.ON" project is initially aiming to evaluate and answer. Additionally the project is dedicated to coordinating and supporting all group activities related to smart metering and smart grids.

The reason: The ongoing build up of renewable energies, the increasing use of decentralised generating facilities and the expected spread of electric cars in the medium term make it necessary to record the flow of electricity in the network in real time and to control it intelligently. With the help of data systems that intelligently network all network users, such as households and commercial customers, those feeding in electricity from renewable energies and heat-power cogeneration, the electricity network will become an energy Internet - a so-called Smart Grid. Intelligent electricity meters are one of the cores of such a pioneering network infrastructure.
