The 'Climate' part of E.ON Climate & Renewables is focusing on supply-side energy efficiency projects in developing countries, in the MENA-region and South-East Asia, leveraging the technical capabilities of the E.ON Group. Such projects include landfill gas recovery, gas distribution network leakage avoidance, and open cycle to combined cycle gas turbine conversions. This activity is built upon a portfolio of JI/CDM contracts expected to deliver ~45 Mton by 2020. Significant signals indicate that in the long term flexible mechanisms will be part of a global deal to tackle climate change; and so it makes strategic sense to build our capabilities and Carbon business now.

Carbon Neutral with E.ON

E.ON Climate & Renewables Carbon Sourcing activities in the carbon market are threefold. Firstly, we make carbon credits by acting as project developer and minority shareholder in offset projects. Secondly, we buy offset certificates from existing projects and thirdly we also sell the sourced certificates internally or to third parties.
