Germany's leading Management School

The European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) in Berlin, an accredited, international management school, was founded in October 2002 by 25 leading German companies and associations - including E.ON. The school offers full-time and part-time executive MBA programs with an international focus, as well as a variety of executive education programs. Research focuses on responsible management, management of technological innovation, and regulation and competition in Europe.

In 2010 ESMT was the only German business school to be listed in the Financial Times' international Top 30 ranking of open enrollment programs. In the context of its executive development activities, E.ON cooperates extensively with the management school and awards annual ESMT scholarships to selected executives and junior executives.

E.ON Chair in Corporate Responsibility

Corporate responsibility (CR) is of central importance to E.ON, and in April 2008 we underscored our commitment to CR by establishing a Chair in Corporate responsibility at ESMT. The aim of the E.ON Chair is to make an effective contribution to academic research on CR principles in the global economy and encourage their application.

Following an international selection process, renowned economist Dr. C.B. Bhattacharya was appointed to the chair, which E.ON has undertaken to fund for five years. Dr. Bhattacharya is an expert in the field of innovative CR and business strategies and has already twice been included in the Business Week list of outstanding faculty members. The results of his research have been published in the most important American media.

In Dr. Bhattacharya's experience, the development of new CR solutions is an area that is still neglected by many business schools.

"In contrast, the ESMT's mission is to develop leaders who act responsibly and to foster sustainability. This is why I am very pleased at the prospect of contributing to the growth of the school in this field," notes Dr. Bhattacharya.
