E.ON International Research Initiative Conference 5 & 6 July 2011

E.ON's achievements in developing innovative energy technologies through the International Research Initiative (IRI) were showcased in July 2011 at a major two-day in event in Birmingham, UK.

Over 50 researchers and scientists from around the world attended the conference and highlighted the progress they have made as part of E.ON's International Research Initiative.

Results discussed at the conference included expanding wind power by storing the energy it produces as compressed air in caverns or in giant energy bags anchored to the seabed. Another project involving battery storage technologies and electric vehicles could lead to supermarket grocery vans also delivering power to homes through links to the electricity grid.
